Wind
Profiler-RASS
This device
has been manufactured by VAISALA. It is the model LAP-3000.
The wind
profiler is a Doppler radar which provides vertical profiles of horizontal
wind speed and direction, and vertical wind velocity to an altitude of 3 km
above ground level. It operates at a frequency of 1290 MHz.
The Radio
Acoustic Sounding System (RASS) provides virtual temperature profiles
up to about 1.5 km above ground level, depending on atmospheric conditions. It
operates continuously between 2 kHz and 3 kHz. This system provides continuous,
real-time atmospheric wind and temperature data with excellent spatial
resolution.
